The hospitality industry in somalia, emerging from one of the worst economic slumps in a generation, has made a remarkable rebound in the last few years.

This boom has been brought by the re-establishment of the central government of Somalia recognized by the entire world which has led to investor confidence and the somali diaspora going back home, Mostly young and rich somalis who are eager to invest and rebuild their country. Out of all the diaspora who have returned 40 percent have chosen to invest in the tourism and hospitality industry, in hotels and restaurants. 

But hotels Businesses continue to take the biggest hits in terrorist attacks against Somalia. Despite the latest trepidation and still the bumby road ahead, prospects for hotels and tourism appear favorable in the long term.

According to a local airliner statistics inbound travel to Somalia had increased 200 percent in the last two years.

The good news for the industry, is that hotel owners who had suffered a terrorist attack always rebuilds, every single hotel that had in the past been destroyed have been rebuilt to send a message to the criminals that they cannot frighten the resilient Somali people who will stop at nothing to re-invest and rebuild their nation once again.

Amina geele a hotel manager in wadajir suburb of Xamar stated, that construction of hotels is on the up, rising by 32 percent in the third quarter of 2015. With a steady supply of Somalis coming back and the millions of the local population, hotel operators can focus on increasing occupancy, and later can take aim at increasing revenues with higher room rates,  Amina said.
