THE STRANGLE HOLD OF THE INTERNATIONAL AID

50 of the biggest humanitarian non-governmental organisations worldwide have reported that the sector’s growth has double to about 18 billion over the last 10 years. As the Humanitarian aid sector grows it should mean more sufficient aid reaching people in conflict zones and drought stricken regions.

But the world was shocked and alot of eyebrows were raised last week when an aid shipment of rotten expired foodstuffs were delivered to Somalia.

Somalis around the world are raising a question that is never publicly raised in the sector, the question of fraud, and whether funds raised in the name of helping drought stricken regions of Somalia and donated by people around the world of every creed and race for the cause of humanity are reaching the people it’s meant to aid.

We tried to get some answers from the Somali information Ministry but they declined to answer any of our question.

We spoke to abdirahman geele a local Somali charity worker, We asked him what he’d thought of Such an inhumane delivery of rotten Aid disguised as humanitarian.

Abdirahman says it’s not the first time he had seen such a thing, But the difference this time was the government did it’s work and impounded the aid and he was glad about that, but saddened that the suffering of his people has become the business plan of Some aid agencies.

Mr geele added that definitely some elements of the international aid architecture in Somalia are fraudulent, we all saw what sort of aid was delivered to this country the other day it was not fit even for animal consumption, But how deep and far this activities go and if the top officials of this NGO’s, Aid agencies are aware i can’t say.

Somalia doesn’t need aid this country is blessed with two rivers and the best agricultural land anywhere on earth, the largest coast in the continent, and all kinds of resources we just need security and it comes down to the Somali people taking the responsibility to rebuild their nation and break the strangle hold of the aid architecture status quo.. he added.
