The Somali government has launched a process to unify the country’s banks
The process by which the Central Bank of Somalia unites Somali banks will make it easier for the public to transfer to each other. It is the first time that the country’s banks and the Central Bank of Somalia have come together to discuss this new approach to expanding banking services in Somalia.
The 13 lenders in country can now “become inter-operable, connected to the clearing and settlement system of the central bank and able to transact with each other,” Central Bank of Somalia Governor Abdirahman M. Abdullahi said.
